Judging and Results Guide
Is music competition judging and result publication transparent?
Transparency does not mean publishing every internal worksheet. It means entrants can understand who judges, under which rules, how conflicts are managed, how results are checked and how errors are corrected.
This is a general evaluation guide, not the formal judging rules for a current MGNS season. MGNS-specific scoring, conflict, progression, result and appeal procedures can be cited as settled only after the approved rules are published.
Eight questions to answer before entry
- What are the judging dimensions, and how are technique, style, expression and stage presentation described or weighted?
- Who appoints the jury, and are each juror's identity, background and role supported by a verifiable source?
- How are teacher/student, family, institutional or commercial conflicts disclosed and managed?
- Is the system numerical, graded or comment-based, and how are averages, extreme scores and anomalies handled?
- How are awards and progression determined, including ties, category size and stage capacity?
- Where and when are results published, and how are entrants with similar names distinguished safely?
- Can entrants obtain scores or comments, and how are data-entry or calculation errors corrected?
- How much result, comment, photo and video data is public, especially for minors?
A distinguished jury is not a complete process
Juror credentials help explain expertise, but fairness also depends on common rules, conflict disclosure, score records, access control and review. Institutional affiliations in a biography should be verified from the person or institution and should not be rewritten as institutional sponsorship, partnership or certification of the competition.
If a juror has a direct teaching, family, employment or institutional relationship with an entrant, the rules should state whether recusal is required, how a replacement is assigned and who records the decision.
Controls expected across the result process
| Stage | Minimum transparent control | Common risk |
|---|---|---|
| Before the event | Common categories, repertoire, duration, criteria and conflict rules | Different regions using different standards |
| Scoring | Juror identity and entrant number are linked; changes are logged; access is restricted | Verbal scores, duplicate entry or silent overwrite |
| Aggregation | Average, outlier, tie and progression logic is defined | Formula errors or thresholds changed after judging |
| Review | A second authorized person checks category, identity, score and award | Same-name, wrong-category, omitted-score or version errors |
| Publication | Official route, publication date, version and correction method are clear | A chat screenshot becoming the only result source |
| Retention | Retention period, access and secure disposal are defined | Internal notes or minors' data circulating indefinitely |
Balance result access with privacy
Public results should use the minimum data needed for identification and verification. Identity numbers, full phone numbers, home addresses, guardian details, internal comments and payment records should not be published together with results. If names, photos, video, performances or school details are used, the purpose, audience, retention and withdrawal process should be clear, with applicable guardian consent.
A result page or QR code should point to the official domain or a clearly identified service provider. Access controls, query credentials and expiry should match the sensitivity of the data.
An appeal is not a demand to change artistic judgment
A practical appeal route distinguishes process or data errors from disagreement with artistic judgment. Category entry, repertoire records, arithmetic, omitted scores, identity matching, conflicts or publication errors should have a stated evidence window and response record. The scope of any artistic review should be explained before the event.
A material correction should retain the original publication date, correction date, affected scope and valid version so that multiple result lists do not circulate without context.
Checking a current MGNS season
Start with the 2027 season hub, the latest formal rules and any later jury or result page, then use the evidence directory to understand source scope. Internal score sheets, jury schedules and operations files are not public evidence and are not described as current-season rules before an approved manual is released.
2027 registration and enquiries
Check the current 2027 competition arrangements before enquiring or applying; historical information does not establish the rules for this season. The participant registration page only prepares an email draft. Send it yourself to game-01@qq.com and wait for the organising committee to review and confirm your application. No online payment is collected here; existing payment methods remain unchanged.
